KELOWNA, B.C. — The Kelowna Airport YMCA Child Care centre is now open, offering services specifically catered to the needs of parents and caregivers working at or near the Kelowna International Airport.
This new centre, developed through a partnership between the Province of British Columbia, the City of Kelowna and KF Aerospace, is situated at the airport and has a capacity to care for 86 children aged five and under.
The City of Kelowna received approximately $3.8 million from the ChildCareBC New Spaces fund to establish the facility, which is operated by the YMCA of Southern Interior.
Since 2018, the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund has supported the creation of over 33,000 new licensed child care spaces in British Columbia, including more than 1,700 in the Kelowna area.
Applications are currently open for the 2023-24 ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund, available to public and not-for-profit child care operators and providers, as well as Indigenous governments.
