Teams shortlisted for new 264th Street Interchange project
B.C. FLICKR - Three shortlisted teams have been invited by the province to participate in a request for proposals to design and build a new 264th Street Interchange, a key component of improvements to Highway 1 between 264th Street and Mt. Lehman Road.

VICTORIA – Three teams have been shortlisted by the Province of B.C. to submit a request for proposals to design and build a new 264th Street Interchange, a key component of the $2.3 billion improvements to Highway 1 between 264th Street and Mt. Lehman Road.

Aecon-Norland General Partnership (a partnership between Aecon Constructors and Norland Projects Limited); KEA Fraser Valley Connectors (a joint venture between Kiewit Infrastructure BC ULC and Emil Anderson Construction Inc.); and Metro Vancouver (Infrastructure) Partnership (comprising Jacob Bros. Construction Inc., BD Hall Constructors Corp., and EBC Inc.) are the teams selected.

The province will select the final design-build team after evaluating these proposals, with construction expected to commence in late 2024.

This interchange is one of three major contracts under Phase 3A of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program. The other contracts include upgrades to the Mt. Lehman Interchange and highway widening, and the replacement of the Bradner Road overpass. These are expected to be tendered in spring 2024, with the completion of Phase 3A anticipated by 2029.

The project extends beyond vehicular traffic improvements, encompassing enhancements in active transportation, truck parking facilities and public transit infrastructure.

Dan Coulter, minister of state for infrastructure and transit, highlighted the ongoing preparatory work on Highway 1 east of 264th Street, which lays the groundwork for the interchange upgrade and highway expansion.
