Feedback sought for concept plan for new Kitsilano and Fairview park

Feedback sought for concept plan for new Kitsilano and Fairview park
CITY OF VANCOUVER - Until April 30, the public is being invited to provide feedback on the draft concept plan for “Burrard Slopes Park,” located between Pine and Fir streets and West 5th and 6th avenues.

VANCOUVER – A plan is in the works for a new neighbourhood space for those who live, work and play in Kitsilano and Fairview.

Until April 30, the public is being invited to provide feedback on the draft concept plan for “Burrard Slopes Park,” located between Pine and Fir streets and West 5th and 6th avenues. The concept plan is guided by Vancouver Park Board and city-led strategies and responds to feedback from the community during previous engagement, a release reads.

Proposed elements include a large central lawn area for passive and active recreational activities, a plaza-style skatepark, an expanded playground with improved accessibility and inclusivity features, new seating and socializing spaces, and an enclosed dog off-leash area.

The future park site includes a section of the Arbutus Greenway, two existing parks and a newly cleared area north of the Greenway, following the demolition of three vacant buildings in 2024, the release adds. Following construction, the park space will triple in size. A final concept plan will be presented this fall ahead of anticipated construction beginning in 2027.

An official park name for the park will be identified and announced through a separate naming process.

Those looking can provide feedback can do so in the following ways:

  • View the draft concept plan and learn more about the project by visiting the Shape Your City page
  • Share feedback via the online survey (live until April 30)
  • Chat to project staff at a pop-up event at West 6th and Fir Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26
