Canaport LNG Ltd. awarded a $117 million engineer-procure-construct contract to a partnership led by Peter Kiewit Sons Co., a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation. The contract was for the Canaport LNG terminal jetty located in Saint John, N.B.

Canaport LNG Ltd. awarded a $117 million engineer-procure-construct contract to a partnership led by Peter Kiewit Sons Co., a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation. The contract was for the Canaport LNG terminal jetty located in Saint John, N.B.

The job was started in 2006-07 and included the fabrication and installation of 16 marine support jackets, 12 roadway and pipe support trestle sections, a liquid natural gas receiving platform, 10 mooring hooks, four berthing fenders, an access gangway and eight catwalk structures.

The total structural steel weighed 7,500 tonnes.

Two-thousand cubic metres of concrete form the road and platform deck. All structure placements, pile driving, rock drilling, grouting operations and site services support were accomplished using crane barges.

The Canaport LNG is equipped to receive liquefied natural gas from largest tankers.
