The Construction Record Podcast – Episode 37: Apprenticeship ratios, federal prompt payment and NAFTA

Journal Of Commerce Image Journal Of Commerce

On this week’s Construction Record podcast, national editor Vince Versace and daily editor Lindsey Cole take a deep dive into the continuing debate around apprenticeship ratios, as well as delving into a federal prompt payment report which was recently released. And on an international level, Lindsey and Vince look at the activity swirling around the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as the United States and Mexico agree on terms and invite Canada to join their new agreement.

Daily Commercial News staff writer Angela Gismondi digs deeper into the issues around NAFTA with John Gamble, the president and CEO of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Canada (ACEC) about why his organization joined The Coalition To Keep Trade Free, a group led by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce to advance Canadian interests as negotiations around free trade continue.

Journal of Commerce digital media editor Warren Frey also talked to Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA) president Chris Gardner and BC Building Trades executive director Tom Sigurdson about a petition ICBA and several other associations, businesses and individuals submitted to BC Supreme Court against the recent community benefits agreement framework introduced by the government of British Columbia for public infrastructure projects.
