This week digital media editor Warren Frey talks to Wesley Sessenwein, the founder and CEO of PayShepherd, a contractor billing software solution that recently secured a $700,000 funding round for the Calgary-based startup.
Sessenwein explained PayShepherd helps large industrial facilities such as pulp and steel mills manage contractor billing by removing overbilling from contract service agreements. At a macro level, Sessenwein said, large amounts of money is spent on maintenance and with that complexity of work comes an even more complex billing process, which has “historically been done by Excel or even pen and paper.”
The problem PayShepherd solves is consistent across all heavy industry, he added, as industries as diverse as cement plants and ship building consume heavy trades that operate on reimbursable contracts and with large numbers of people onsite, traditional methods fall apart.
