On this episode of the Construction Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with BC ministry of transportation engineering director Kevin Weicker about the damage caused by the 2021 floods across British Columbia, how the province initially responded to the crisis and where construction has progressed almost a year later.
Weicker also explained some of the innovative techniques used as temporary structures were built to replace collapsed structures or mitigate portions of still-functional infrastructure.
Even during the event, maintenance contractors were shoring up infrastructure to prevent damage from getting any worse by placing rocks at bridge infrastructure to block further water and debris.
