On this episode of The Construction Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with Cement Association of Canada president and CEO Adam Auer about Concrete Zero, the Canadian cement and concrete industry’s action plan to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Auer explained how large- and small-scale companies have come together to reduce emissions at present and future, both through best practices and adoption of current and future technologies, and pointed to reducing the use of clinker to produce cement.
He also said work is being done to recycle demolished concrete into new building materials and said the cement and concrete industry is the first to join the federal government’s Net-Zero Challenge initiative.
