JOC embarks on a new path

Mark Casaletto
JOC embarks on a new path
ConstructConnect - Canada president Mark Casaletto

Dear Journal of Commerce readers and advertisers, I wanted to personally announce a historic transition for the Journal of Commerce (JOC). At a time when our journalism, project data and analytics is read and respected by more people, in more places than ever before in our 106-year history, we are embarking on a strategic path that will take this iconic publication into an exclusively digital future.

We faced a choice: manage the JOC’s continued decline in print or convert the digital foundation we have built into a sustainable future.

In choosing the latter, we will transform the JOC by enhancing its web experience into the most innovative news and project information source in the Canadian construction industry. We will build and provide new digital tools to make the experience of consuming our industry leading content, in all its forms, a more rewarding and productive experience for our readers and advertisers.

Our goal is a digital transition that will result in more news coverage, in different forms and increased frequency, as we leverage our new digital capabilities to reach more people, ultimately giving them a best in industry content experience. Our new digital footprint ultimately gives our team the flexibility to cover stories in a more timely and efficient manner while reaching a wider audience of stakeholders.

With the spirit of a start-up and the authority of our heritage, this transition means that the most innovative information source in the Canadian construction industry can embark on a sustainable future.

As we set out on this path, I would like to thank everyone for the part they have played in the development of the JOC in the past century and we look forward to the next 100 years.

Kind Regards,

Mark Casaletto
