PCL Toronto appoints Olynyk as new director

TORONTO — Terry Olynyk has been appointed to the position of director, business development, at Toronto PCL Constructors Canada Inc.

Reporting to PCL Toronto senior vice-president and district manager Todd Craigen, Olynyk will be responsible for managing district business development practices and strategies, including market research, planning, and relationship management, while supporting district goals based on a strategic vision and priorities, states a release issued by PCL.

Olynyk has more than 25 years of construction experience. He joined PCL in 1998 and has served in various positions including district building systems manager, Integrated Business Unit (IBU) manager and senior construction manager.

Under his leadership, the district successfully launched the Renewable Energy IBU in 2011, which quickly propelled PCL into a position of leadership in Ontario’s Renewable Energy market, generating over $700 million in new work, the release reads. Most recently, Olynyk has led PCL Agile, which has strategically positioned PCL to leverage this nontraditional business unit.

Olynyk holds a mechanical technologist diploma from Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology. He is a LEED AP and a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt professional.

“Terry is an accomplished builder, leader, and strategist,” said Craigen in a statement. “I am confident in his ability to influence a culture of innovation that will help PCL shape current industry practices to create long-term success for PCL, as well as our clients and partners.”
