B.C.’s Highway 29 scheduled for upgrades

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — Resurfacing work will soon begin on Highway 29 in British Columbia.

Approximately 47 kilometres of work has been scheduled for the highway stretching from Bullmoose Flats Bridge located 25 kilometres north of Tumbler Ridge to the Sukunka Forest Service Road.

Penticton, B.C.-based Peter’s Brothers Construction Ltd. was awarded the $4.8-million contract and will begin work this summer.

Single-lane alternating traffic will be in place during construction and hot-in-place recycled asphalt will be used as it reduces greenhouse gases and conserves non-renewable paving materials, explains a release.

“Resurfacing this stretch of Highway 29 will provide a much safer, smoother ride. We are pleased to get going on this project, which will enable businesses to move their products more efficiently and make travelling easier for people in the region,” B.C. Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena said in a statement.
