Productivity elevated with new telematics solution from Skyjack

Productivity elevated with new telematics solution from Skyjack

Linamar Corporation’s Skyjack division has developed a telematics solution that provides end-users with remote machine monitoring, remote troubleshooting and other data.

The technology can be ordered with new Skyjack equipment, fitted directly from the manufacturer, or can be purchased as an aftermarket solution and retrofitted to existing Skyjack and other off-highway fleet equipment.

“A previous barrier to telematics for off-highway fleets was the pricing structure,” says David Swan, product manager of technology and innovation. “We’ve built a solution that delivers value from every model we build from scissorlifts to telehandlers. Elevate is packaged and priced to be a true full fleet solution.”

Swan continues, “We started this process by asking important questions: What do our customers need when it comes to telematics, and what real value can the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) add to the telematics product category?

“What we realized is that when we combine our engineering knowledge of the machines we build, and cross reference that with the needs of our customers, we were able to identify the really important, rich, machine data that could drive better business practices for our customers.”

Elevate follows a mobile first philosophy.

Through the use of the Elevate ON and Elevate GO apps, powered by Trackunit, Elevate provides an integrated solution for entire fleets.

“At Skyjack our whole philosophy around telematics is that we incorporate our customers’ telematics goals into our goals. They have ideas about what they can get out of a connected fleet and we’re taking that information and building a solution based on those needs and those requests,” explains Swan.

The information provided by Elevate to the end-user is available through Elevate GO; it delivers actionable insights to the hands of service techs and other personnel on the ground. Elevate ON, which is in the final phases of development, “adopts a mobile first interface where they now have access to paperless pre-checks, complete with visual guides and a system to log machine usage,” says Swan. “Eventually we’ll be able to provide access to familiarization material and service manuals at their fingertips.”

Trackunit is the company with whom Skyjack partnered with in order to provide telematics for Skyjack machines.

Trackunit has been providing telematics solutions specifically for off-highway and construction rental fleets for more than a decade.

Working hand-in-hand with Skyjack, they’ve developed both off-the-line and retrofit solutions to add Elevate to new and existing off-highway fleets.

“Skyjack was looking for a partner who could help us maintain our company ethos of simply reliable, while staying easy to do business with and we reached out to companies across the globe to find it,” says Swan.

“After several rounds of interviews, product demonstrations and analyses, one company really stood out to meet our criteria in their ability to provide our customers with maximum flexibility by integrating the solution into their existing business models, rather than building a new one.”

Elevate can be ordered with new Skyjack equipment.
