TORONTO — Federal and provincial government officials have announced joint funding for the Township of Red Rock’s Water Pollution Control Plant project on Lake Superior in northern Ontario.
The federal government is contributing $8.57 million to the project through the Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component — National and Regional Projects, representing one-third of the estimated $25.71-million total eligible project cost, said a recent media statement.
The government of Ontario is contributing two-thirds for approximately $17.14 million.
The statement said when the project is complete, the Township of Red Rock will be in compliance with existing provincial regulations as well as federal water quality regulations that will be enforced starting in 2030.
