Canadian Design-Build Institute elects new chair and vice-chair

HALIFAX — The Canadian Design-Build Institute (CDBI) recently elected Gary Bale as its new chair, ending the two-year term of Samuel (Uel) McFall, and also elected Fabrizio Carinelli as the new vice-chair.

The election took place at the CDBI annual general meeting, held in conjunction with CDBI’s 2018 National Design-Build Conference in Halifax. CDBI, a special committee of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), is the national voice of Canadian design-build practitioners representing about 200 firms, explains a release.

Bale is a principal of BALE Project Consulting out of Chilliwack, B.C. He specializes in providing executive advisory and strategic project procurement and management services, developing design-build and public-private partnership proposals for transportation and infrastructure projects along with project director services for the delivery of major infrastructure projects in Canada, the release adds.

Carinelli is president of CANA Construction in Calgary, Alta. and is also a CCA board member.

“Over the past 20 years, CDBI has seen a phenomenal selection of Canadian architects, engineers and contractors that have completed significant and impressive design-build projects,” said Bale in a statement.

“The institute will continue to be an advocate, provide best practices and industry guides to ensure owners, contractors and subcontractors continue to produce effective solutions to the Canadian construction industry. I look forward to steering this committee throughout the next two years.”
