Great Gulf announces project in Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Canadian developer Great Gulf recently announced it has broken ground on a project in Washington, D.C.’s Union Market District.

The developer said in a statement the groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Canadian Embassy representatives and “marked a significant milestone in Great Gulf’s expansion into the U.S. market.”

This project is being undertaken with co-developer Edens.

It’s a 10-storey mixed-use, multi-family development at 1300 4th St. N.E., measuring 153,000 square feet overall with 12,000 square feet of retail at ground level and 134 residential units.

The project was designed by architects Shalom Baranes Associates with interiors by Mason Studio Interior Design. Mahan Rykiel Associates Landscape Architect is also participating.

“We chose Union Market in the heart of Washington, D.C. because it’s an opportunity to establish Great Gulf as a development company of choice in a significant American city and participate in the transformation of a diverse and thriving community,” said Niall Collins, president residential with Great Gulf, in the statement.
