HAINES JUNCTION, YUKON — The federal and territorial governments as well as the Municipality of Haines Junction in Yukon Territory have announced funding of $6 million for phase two of the Haines Junction Infrastructure Rehabilitation project.

The Government of Canada is spending $4.5 million on the project through the Small Communities Fund while the Government of Yukon is investing $1.5 million in the project, said a recent release.

The second phase will improve underground water and wastewater mains and pipes as well as road and drainage work on Macintosh Street, Auriol Street, Kluane Street, Logan Street, Martin Street, Steele Street, Lucania Street, Bates Street, Lowell Street and Kathleen Road.

“This long-term investment in the health of our community is vital to the sustainability of our community. The Village of Haines Junction is grateful for the funds which have been dedicated to providing our community members with much-needed new water and sewer infrastructure,” said Haines Junction Mayor Thomas Eckervogt in the statement.
