As soon as the B.C. NDP government unveiled a new mandate to include Community Benefits Agreements (CBA) on key public-sector infrastructure projects, construction industry stakeholders weighed in with vastly different views on the decision.
In July 2018, the government announced the first projects to be delivered under the framework are the new Pattullo Bridge and the Trans-Canada Highway four-laning projects between Kamloops and Alberta.
Since the announcement, the Journal of Commerce (JOC) has followed the story closely, reporting on new developments as they emerge and evolve. While the industry has written numerous Industry Voices Op-Eds expressing their views on CBAs, the following is a collection of recent JOC coverage which showcase industry initiatives and opinions for or against the agreements.
