Alterra announces new capital spending at Mont-Tremblant

MONT-TREMBLANT, QUE. — Alterra Mountain Company has announced $14 million in spending for upgrades to skiing infrastructure and a spa at the Mont-Tremblant resort in Quebec.

A March 4 release indicated $10.3 million will be spent primarily on snowmaking equipment, with 90 new snowguns to be added and two new grooming machines to be purchased, and $3.8 million will be allocated towards renovations of the Aquaclub La Source spa.

The spending is being supported by $1.68 million in funding from the provincial government through its Tourism Development Strategy Support Program. In total, the resort owner will spend $17 million on upgrades this year. Alterra previously announced plans for a new C Hotels Tremblant project. Other projects unveiled have included renovations to hotel and boutique common areas and public washrooms.

“A more performant snowmaking system will allow us to keep this sector of the mountain open longer, a timely upgrade given the recent announcement of the new $45-million C Hotels Tremblant development project,” stated Patrice Malo, Station Mont-Tremblant president and CEO, in a statement.
