IRRICANA, ALTA. — Alberta will soon be home to several new grain elevators.
G3 announced it will build new high-efficiency grain elevators near Irricana and in Stettler County, Alberta.
Both of the projects will have a capacity of 42,000 tonnes and a railway loop track that can accommodate trains of up to 150 cars. The high-efficiency elevators will be able to unload a Super B truck in less than five minutes.
G3 plans to commence construction on the new elevators this summer if it secures final regulatory approvals. Construction is expected to be completed next year.
G3 Stettler County will be served by CP Rail and G3 Irricana will link up with CN Rail.
“Central Alberta is one of the most important grain growing regions in Canada,” says G3 CEO Don Chapman in a press release. “We are excited to be able to provide farmers in the region a new choice to market their grain through modern facilities that will save them time and money.”
G3 currently has four other elevators under construction in Western Canada at Morinville, Wetaskiwin and Carmangay, Alta. and at Maidstone, Sask., as well as a new port terminal under construction in North Vancouver, B.C.
