Hill announced as PEO’s 100th president

TORONTO — Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) has announced Nancy Hill, an engineer and lawyer and founding partner of Canadian patent and trademark firm Hill & Schumacher, as its new president.

The PEO is the licensing and regulating body for professional engineers and engineering in the province. Hill was named the PEO’s 100th president at its annual general in Toronto May 4.

Hill has 20 years of volunteer experience with the PEO and the engineering community, including previous service as chair of the PEO’s complaints, awards and women in engineering advisory committees, stated a release.

The PEO’s council for the 2019-2020 term was also introduced at the AGM. The composition and operation of council is dictated by Regulation 941 under the Professional Engineers Act. Besides Hill, the council includes Marisa Sterling, president-elect, David Brown, past president, Christian Bellini, vice-president (elected) and Michael Chan, vice-president (appointed); councillors-at-large Sandra Ausma, Leila Notash and Gregory Wowchuk; regional councillors Serge Robert, Ramesh Subramanian, Randy Walker, Guy Boone, Arthur Sinclair, Keivan Torabi, Warren Turnbull, Lisa MacCumber, Wayne Kershaw and Gary O. Houghton; and Lieutenant Governor appointees Michael Chan, Lorne Cutler, Qadira C. Jackson Kouakou, Tim Kirkby, Lew Lederman, Iretomiwa Olukiyesi, Nadine Rush and Marilyn Spink.
