MONTREAL — Quebec-based developer MACH and builder Devimco Immobilier have announced that Devimco will build more than 2,000 condominium units in the Quartier des lumieres, located on the site of the former Maison de Radio-Canada.
Devimco will be undertaking the project with the pension fund Fonds immobilier de solidarite FTQ, stated a Feb. 18 release.
The Quartier des lumieres is a mixed-use development that will include condos, rental apartments, social housing, offices, neighbourhood shopping and spaces for social, community and cultural activities as well as 54,000 square feet of public green spaces.
The condos will be located in the former parking area west of the Radio-Canada building, at the corner of Wolfe Street and Rene-Levesque Boulevard.
The initial phase of the condo project will be known by the name Auguste & Louis. Construction is set to begin in 2020. The first phase will consist of towers nine and 14 storeys in height with 270 condos built in total. It’s being designed with the architectural firm Provencher Roy.
Delivery of the first units is expected between the summer of 2022 and the spring of 2023.
Devimco and the Fonds have previously worked on the Solar Uniquartier and Maestria projects in Montreal.
