CALGARY, ALTA. — EllisDon’s forming crew has completed raft slab work at the Dorian Hotel project in downtown Calgary, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development.
The construction team completed the slab with 1,800 cubic metres of concrete and 360 tonnes of rebar.
EllisDon began preliminary work on the $110-million downtown Calgary project in 2018.
The work included shoring and excavation for a four-level parkade and the foundation.
The 200,000-square-foot development, designed by Gibbs Gage Architects and developed by PBA Land and Development, will be 27 storeys and will feature a 180-room Marriott Courtyard and a 120-room Autograph by Marriott.
Consulting engineers on the project included Kellam Berg Engineering (civil), Entuitive (structural), Remedy (mechanical), SMP (electrical), Gradient Wind Engineering, Gunn (elevator) and Bunt (transportation).
The project is scheduled to open in 2022.
