Minister Elliott outlines hospital upgrades plan

Ontario’s Minister of Health Christine Elliott has announced Trillium Health Partners will receive $3.4 million to support upgrades, repairs and maintenance projects across all three of its hospital sites. Projects include replacing HVAC systems to improve indoor air quality, installing newer and more reliable nurse call systems for patients, and repairing roofs and elevators to maintain the facilities. Watch for further details of plans to spend $50 million for COVID-19 related and other hospital renovation projects.

 

Stelco reports on furnace upgrade

Stelco Holdings Inc., the owner of the operating company Stelco Inc., today provided an update on its Lake Erie Works blast furnace upgrade and reline project. Stelco continues to proceed with its blast furnace upgrade and reline project at the facility in Nanticoke, Ont., creating what is believed to be the first smart blast furnace of its kind in North America. The upgrade project is currently on budget and on schedule, with hot metal production expected early in October 2020. Read more.

 

Ford appears with Elliott, Lecce, Phillips

Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliott, Minister of Finance Rod Phillips and Minister of Education Stephen Lecce at his daily media conference. The event is scheduled for 1 p.m.

 

Vinyl Institute launches PVC recycling project

The Vinyl Institute of Canada has announced the launch of PVC 123, the first Medical PVC Recycling Pilot partnership in Canada, it was announced this morning. The pilot, established with funding support from Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Vinyl Institute of Canada, aims to divert products from landfills and encourage the recycling of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) medical devices in hospitals into new products.

 

Peel to unveil EV charging plan

Maninder Sidhu, member of parliament for Brampton East, will be making an announcement to support the Region of Peel’s electric vehicle charging network this morning at 11 a.m.
