64-unit housing project wraps up in Leduc

LEDUC, ALTA. — Residents have moved into the Linsford Gardens apartment complex in Leduc, Alta. after construction crews wrapped up the 64-unit project.

The project included tearing down the old Linsford townhouses. The first phase included two buildings with 28 units for residents to live in while the second phase was being constructed. The second phase included 34 more units and park space.

The governments of Alberta and Canada provided $15.8 million for the project through the Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement. According to the province, the project created approximately 115 jobs.

“Leduc is a caring, thriving and inclusive community, and as such we are very pleased to celebrate the opening of these affordable housing units in Linsford Park,” said Leduc Mayor Bob Young in a statement. “Everyone deserves a comfortable and safe place to call home, and we are grateful for the support and collaboration between the Government of Canada, the Province of Alberta, and the Leduc Regional Housing Foundation in making this project possible for those members of our community who need stable, secure housing.”
