TORONTO — Consulting Engineers of Ontario have announced a name change, a decision reached at its online annual general meeting held Sept. 15.
The association will rebrand to become the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Ontario (ACEC-Ontario).
In a statement, the association explained, “The new name better identifies us as an industry association representing engineering firms. It aligns our organization with the national-level association (ACEC-Canada) and the naming convention used by the vast majority of our provincial counterparts across Canada.”
The new name and brand are said to align with the “newly articulated mission and vision for the association found in our 2020-2023 strategic plan.”
Bill Allison, partner at Dillon Consulting, will serve as the 2020-2021 ACEC-Ontario chair. The board also introduced two new directors, Ryan Matthews, municipal market chief at J.L. Richards & Associates, and Chris Metaxas, senior engineering consultant at GEI Consultants.
Recognition was also given to outgoing past chair Rex Meadley, who has retired after a 35-year engineering career.
“Rex is well known and very well regarded in the consulting engineering community and dedicated six years of service to the ACEC-Ontario board. We wish him all the best in retirement,” said Bruce Matthews, ACEC-Ontario’s executive director, in the statement.
