Wedge development breaks ground in Victoria
COX DEVELOPMENTS — Crews have begun work on The Wedge, a new mixed-use tower in Victoria, B.C.

VICTORIA — Crews have begun work on The Wedge, a sustainable new residential tower by Cox Developments in Victoria, B.C.

According to Cox, the $50-million tower’s design was inspired by the landscapes of Vancouver Island. The tower will add 93 units of housing to the city. The design features a tech centre and underground parking.

The project team is seeking LEED Platinum certification, with several green design elements like water conservation, active onsite power generation, sustainable materials, natural ventilation, daylighting and strategic sun control to name a few.

The Wedge will also create ground-floor commercial space.

The project was designed by San Diego and Vancouver-based AVRP Skyport and is being built by Blackrete Builders Inc. Work is expected to wrap up in early 2023.

“This is a gorgeous building. I cannot wait to see it built. It’s going to be an exquisite addition,” said Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps in a statement. “I think there is award-winning potential here in terms of the design, and I think that when people walk down the street and walk past this building, they’re really going to be in awe of what Victoria can deliver.”
