Home price spikes topped by Windsor 

The Royal LePage House Price Survey and Market Survey Forecast released today notes that the aggregate price of a home in Canada increased 8.6 per cent year-over-year to $692,964 in the third quarter. Windsor, Ont. reported the highest price gain in the third quarter as the aggregate price of a home rose 17 per cent year-over-year followed by Oshawa (15 per cent), Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge (13.9 per cent), Hamilton (13.7 per cent) and Mississauga (13.5 per cent), all in Ontario. Royal LePage suggests a COVID-related spike in savings has been diverted into housing, helping to drive the price surges.  

 

Roadwork projects OK’ed for N.L. 

The federal government and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador this morning announced funding for two road infrastructure projects in Pacquet and Lushes Bight-Beaumont-Beaumont North in the province. In Pacquetparts of Lake Road and Newtown road will be repaved and there will be rehabilitation work in the surrounding areas. In addition, a gravel roadway in the Town of Lushes Bight Beaumont-Beaumont North will be paved and culverts in poor condition replaced. 

 

RICS to host update on CRE trends 

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has announced it will host its next Americas Update on commercial real estate on Oct. 27. Sheila Botting of Avison Young and RICS chief economist Simon Rubinsohn will discuss CRE trends. 

 

Boralex to announce Q3 results 

Quebec-based Boralex today announced it will release its Q3 results on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. Boralex develops, builds and operates renewable energy power facilities in Canada, France, the United Kingdom and the United StatesBoralex is France’s largest independent producer of onshore wind power. 

 

EA to resume for Marathon palladium mine 

The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada and the Government of Ontario have announced they are resuming the environmental assessment for the proposed Marathon Palladium Project, located near the town of Marathon, Ont. Generation PGM Inc. is proposing to construct and operate an open pit palladium mine approximately 10 kilometres from Marathon, with infrastructure including three to four open pits, an ore processing plant, tailings and mine rock storage facilities, site access roads, a transmission line, explosives factory and water management facilities
