Design-Build conference launches today
Today is day one of the Canadian Design-Build Institute’s first virtual conference. The event continues on Oct. 28 and 29. The keynote speaker today is Geoff Neumayr, chair-elect of the Design-Build Institute of America. He will be followed by Bruce Cleaver from Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions to discuss design-build in Canada.
Temporary power is big business
Reportlinker.com announced the release of its Global Temporary Power Industry report yesterday. Temporary power refers to supplying energy for onsite construction machinery and tools such as powered tools and lighting during the construction process. The report says the global market for temporary power is projected to reach US$8 billion by 2025.
IFAB Engineering Partners on the move
Cambridge, Ont.-based IFAB Engineering Partners will reach two milestones in one week. On Tuesday it was announced that food and beverage design firm Dennis Group, headquartered in Massachusetts, was forming a formal partnership with IFAB, which provides design and engineering services to the food and nutraceuticals sector. And on Oct. 26 IFAB officially moves into a new premises on Holiday Inn Drive in Cambridge.
Synergy, Morley Hoppner create alliance
Edmonton-based constructors Synergy Group of Companies yesterday announced an “alliance” with Morley Hoppner, an Ottawa construction company. Brian Morley, president of Morley Hoppner, commented, “The partnership with Synergy is a natural fit, where two family–based companies with strong values are coming together to service the construction market across Canada.”
Feds to announce oil and gas spending
The federal government will announce “an important investment in Canada’s oil and gas sector to foster innovation and reduce emissions” today. The virtual event will be held out of Toronto at 1 p.m.
