Propulsion Quebec launches awareness, recruitment campaign

MONTREAL — Propulsion Quebec, the province’s cluster for electric and smart transportation, has launched a new worker recruitment campaign called En Route, the Career Hub in Electric and Smart Transportation.

A Jan. 11 release explained the aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the electric and smart ground transportation (EST) industry and attract new talent to create a qualified EST workforce. Almost 70 per cent of cluster members struggle with workforce issues, the statement said.

Members and supporters of the cluster include the federal and Quebec governments and CDPQ Infra, Bombardier and Fonds de solidarite FTQ.

The program will include a promotional campaign for EST careers; a virtual job and training fair on March 29 and 30 to match candidates and employers and disseminate information about EST careers; and a dedicated website featuring EST job openings and training opportunities.

The campaign is intended help fill positions in electric transportation, smart transportation, new mobility solutions and medium and heavy vehicle maintenance.

“Transportation electrification and integrated smart mobility solutions are the future of ground transportation worldwide, and many countries and regions, including Canada and Quebec, are including these types of initiatives in their post-COVID-19 economic recovery efforts. To navigate this energy and technology transition and make sure our sustainable mobility projects are a success, we need to attract, train and develop qualified workers,” said Sarah Houde, CEO of Propulsion Quebec, in the statement.
