Boralex closes on seven U.S. solar plants

Quebec-based Boralex Inc. today announced the closing of its acquisition of the controlling interest in a portfolio of seven solar plants located in the United States, for a purchase price of $277 million.  The solar plants, located in California (5), Alabama (1) and Indiana (1), were commissioned between 2014 and 2017 and benefit from long-term power purchase agreements with local power authorities.  

 

Impact Assessment funding available for Elk Valley project

Canada’s Impact Assessment Agency of Canada announced yesterday that funding is available to help the public and Indigenous groups participate in the federal environmental assessment for the proposed Crown Mountain Coking Coal Project, located in the Elk Valley, 12 kilometres from the District of Sparwood, in southeastern British Columbia. Applications received by March 3, 2021, will be considered. 

 

Federal, Ontario COVID briefings

Ministers and Government of Canada officials will hold a news conference to provide an update on the coronavirus at noon EST today. Elsewhere, Ontario Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Minister of Health Christine Elliott, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones and General Rick Hillier (retired) to provide an update on the province’s COVID-19 vaccination plan at 1 p.m.
