B.C. and federal government fund salmon protection projects
The federal and British Columbia governments are funding multiple projects to address and reverse the decline of salmon stocks. Over the next four years more than $4 million in funding will go to four projects under the British Columbia Salmon Restoration and Innovation Fund. The funding will go to the Osoyoos Indian Band, the Adams Lake Indian Band, the Seymour Salmonid Society and the Juan de Fuca Salmon Restoration Society.
Saskatchewan amends OH&S regulations to standardize PPE
The Government of Saskatchewan has made amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 which will standardize workplace requirements for first aid kits based on Canadian Standards Association guidelines. Personal protective standards have also been adopted for protective headwear, eye and face protection, protective footwear, hearing protection and personal floatation devices. Con Edison customers showed rapid solar adoption in 2020
New York State utility firm Con Edison announced an increased number of customers rapidly adopted to solar energy use in 2020 despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. Customers in New York City and Westchester County, N.Y. completed 5,542 arrays during the year. The panels customers placed on their roofs last year have the capacity to produce 44.77 megawatts, or 44.77 million watts, a Con Edison release stated.
