First Notice: South Niagara Hospital RFQ; northern Ontario electricity project complete; Peel names acting CFO

RFQ issued for new South Niagara Hospital

A request for qualifications has been issued by Infrastructure Ontario and Niagara Health to design, build, finance and maintain the South Niagara Hospital Project. Shortlisted teams will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, which is expected in fall 2021. The new hospital will be located at the intersection of Biggar Road and Montrose Road in Niagara Falls, Ont. and will centralize services from existing facilities. The new site is being planned with a seniors’ focus embedded into all aspects of the patient experience.

 

Animbiigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek completes electricity project

The Animbiigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek First Nation has completed an electrical distribution system project that will bring power to the community. The lands are located along the southern shore of Partridge Lake, approximately 2.5 hours northeast of Thunder Bay, Ont. The Government of Canada will fund up to $2.5 million for the project, which will support future residential lots and a water treatment and distribution system for the community. The First Nation contributed $41,303.

 

Region of Peel announces acting commissioner of finance and chief financial officer

The Region of Peel has announced Julie Pittini as the acting commissioner of finance and chief financial officer as of March 8. In this role, Pittini joins the members of Peel’s executive leadership team, and will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing financial sustainability of regional services.

 

McKenna to make announcement with Community Foundations of Canada, Canadian Urban Institute

Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna, Andy Fillmore, MP for Halifax, Andrea Dicks, president of Community Foundations of Canada, and Mary Rowe, president and CEO of the Canadian Urban Institute, are slated to make an announcement following a panel discussion featuring “leading placemaking experts from across Canada.” The event is scheduled to take place virtually Feb. 9 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. EST.
