Federal government showcases mass timber construction
The Government of Canada has announced $648,250 for Vancouver-based structural engineering firm Fast + Epp towards construction of their head office which will be a four-storey mass timber and steel hybrid building. Funding for this project is provided through Natural Resources Canada’s Green Construction through Wood program, which encourages the use of wood in non-traditional construction projects.
Swing stages in place on Vancouver EllisDon project
EllisDon has announced swing stages are in place and soffits are being installed on their 400 West Georgia project, a striking building in downtown Vancouver that resembles a series of stacked cubes. In the spring curtainwall work will be complete and two tower cranes will be removed, an EllisDon release stated.
Bockstael takes on construction manager role for The Village
Bockstael Construction has announced it will take on the role of construction manager for The Village, a tiny homes project in Winnipeg intended to house homeless people in the city’s downtown. Bockstael will work with Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. and their partners End Homelessness Winnipeg, Cibinel Architecture Ltd and Bison Container Homes.
