BCCR holds virtual wastewater plant tour In April

The British Columbia Construction Roundtable (BCCR) is holding a virtual tour from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on April 8 of Metro Vancouver’s Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Outfall Project. The presentation will give an overview of the project, talk about the unique tunnelling aspects of the project, and discuss challenges encountered so far during construction. Alberta funds land use study for provincial park in Edmonton

The government of Alberta is putting grants totaling $300,000 to the City of Edmonton and the Enoch Cree Nation to support ecological assessment and a traditional land use study to begin planning for Big Island Provincial Park in Edmonton’s river valley. The studies will inform sustainable recreation opportunities for the future park while ensuring Indigenous rights are respected and sensitive habitat and wildlife are protected, an Alberta government release stated.

Canadian Infrastructure Bank commits to $260 million investment in rural Manitoba broadband

The Canadian Infrastructure Bank, Valley Fiber Limited and DIF Capital Partners have signed an agreement in principle to invest a total fo $260 million to increase broadband through the Southern Manitoba Fibre Project. The project involves 2,550 kilometres of fibreoptic cabling which would connect up to 49,000 underserved households to dedicated fibre-to-the-home in rural municipalities.
