CMHC invests in Edmonton affordable rentals
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) has announced a $46.5 million insured loan to help construct 248 new rental units in the City of Edmonton. The homes are part of a new project called Riverview Residences being developed by Alberta-based Ayrshire Group and the funding is through the CMHC’s Rental Construction Financing initiative which supports rental housing construction projects to encourage a stable supply of new rental housing for families in expensive housing markets.
Saskatchewan puts $90 million towards provincial parks
The Government of Saskatchewan will implement more than $90 million in construction this season in and around Saskatchewan’s parks, including 11 highway paving and upgrading projects, improvements to three parks access roads and paving inside six parks. More than $5.2 million of paving will occur within Saskatchewan parks and improvements are also coming to boat launches, parking lots, park roads and pathways and campground areas.
Edmonton home built by noted contractor named historical resource
A 1922 home built by Edmonton contractor Charles Henry Whitman has been designated as a municipal historic resource by Edmonton City Council. The current owners of the home will receive a grant of up to $75,000 from the city’s Heritage Resources Reserve fund to assist in rehabilitation costs to the building.
