CCA and KPMG survey finds innovation opportunities for Canadian construction
A new report titled Construction in a digital world from the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) and KPMG identifies significant opportunities for construction firms to innovate. As many as 75 per cent of the firms surveyed by the CCA and KPMG rated their digital maturity as fairly low compared to competitors and almost three in five said they need to adapt their digital strategy.
Nunavut heritage society partners with SAIT to pilot green building Â
The Pitquhirnikkut Ilihautiniq/Kitikmeot Heritage Society is teaming up with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology to design and construct a pilot green building in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. The Green Building Technologies Lab will begin construction next month and the structure will be shipped up to Cambridge Bay in Nunavut on the summer barge. The project emphasizes sustainability, local job opportunities and reduction of reliance on fossil fuels.
BMO donates $1 million to Chinatown Storytelling Centre project
BMO Financial Group has donated $1 million in funding toward the creation of the Chinatown Storytelling Centre in Vancouver’s Chinatown. The planned immersive space will present stories of early Chinese immigrants and their role in building Canada as a nation. The 4,000-square-foot Chinatown Storytelling Centre will open this fall.
