OTTAWA – The Canadian Construction Association’s (CCA) CONtact innovator mentorship applications are now being accepted. The program matches innovators and entrepreneurs with industry leaders to help refine their new products and services for the construction industry.
For the first time this year, three of the innovators selected will present their solutions in-person at the CCA annual conference in San Diego, Calif., which takes place March 8 to 11, 2022, in a “Construction Den”-style session in addition to mentorship meetings, indicates a release.
Over the last three years, more than 25 innovators have been mentored and some of these solutions are being tried and tested in the industry. The 2020-2021 CONtact mentee winner Robolution is currently piloting its innovation with two construction firms.
“I have had the opportunity to review applicants for selection and to mentor a concept team on two occasions,” said John Bockstael, CEO of Bockstael Construction, in a statement. “It is inspiring to see the innovative ideas being proposed and the efforts put into shaping their application. The mentorship opportunity presents a win-win. For the mentor, the chance to think outside the box in shaping the best ideas for practical use, and for the mentee, they gain insight into what brings value to the industry. Take the opportunity to get involved as it only means better outcomes for construction.”
The CONtact innovator mentorship program is presented with support from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program.
All mentee applicants must apply online before Sept. 15.
