The Newfoundland and Labrador government has awarded a $477,600 contract to St. John’s-based DWC Electrical Ltd. to perform upgrades at Bishop White School in Port Rexton. The work will include upgrading and replacement of all existing wiring, panel boards, receptacles and switches.
The Newfoundland and Labrador government has awarded a $477,600 contract to St. John's-based DWC Electrical Ltd. to perform upgrades at Bishop White School in Port Rexton.
The work will include upgrading and replacement of all existing wiring, panel boards, receptacles and switches. DWC is also contracted to add wiring for new interactive whiteboards, modify the stage lighting with new track lighting and programmable dimmer controls, to upgrade the emergency lighting and exit signs and install a new fire alarm system.
Since 2006, the province has allocated about $1 million for construction work at Bishop White School, which opened in 1960.
The education ministry says that over the past eight years, more than $504 million has been approved for school infrastructure. Seven schools are in various stages of construction.
