McNaughton to address inspections
Ontario Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton will make an announcement about COVID-19 inspections and supports for small businesses this morning. The event will be livestreamed at 10 a.m.
G3 plans two new grain elevators
Winnipeg-based grain infrastructure firm G3 this morning announced plans to build two new grain elevators in Alberta and Saskatchewan. G3 Rycroft, Alberta and G3 Melfort, Sask. will each have a capacity of 42,000 tonnes. Both new facilities will be located on CN Rail.
Construction will begin later this year, pending final regulatory approvals, with completion expected in early 2023. G3 currently has 17 grain elevators across Western Canada including two which opened this year: G3 Vermilion, Alberta and G3 Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Cannara repurposes Valleyfield greenhouse
Cannara Biotech Inc. today announced it has received a licence for cultivation and processing at its one-million-square-foot cultivation and manufacturing facility in Valleyfield, Que. The firm is currently repurposing the recently acquired greenhouse. Cannara is a producer of premium-grade cannabis and derivative products with two cultivation facilities based in Quebec spanning over 1.65 million square feet.
Mental health indicators rose in spring 2021
Findings released today from the Statistic Canada Survey on COVID-19 and Mental Health indicate that one in four (25 per cent) Canadians aged 18 and older screened positive for symptoms of depression, anxiety or posttraumatic stress disorder in spring 2021, up from one in five (21 per cent) in fall 2020. A positive screen is not a medical diagnosis and does not always indicate that a disorder is present for an individual.
