Agnico Eagle merges with Kirkland Lake Gold
Agnico Eagle Mines Limited and Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. announced yesterday they have entered into a merger agreement with the combined company to continue under the name Agnico Eagle Mines Limited. Upon closing of the merger, the company is expected to have $2.3 billion of available liquidity and a mineral reserve base of 48 million ounces of gold (969 million tonnes at 1.53 grams per tonne). The firm operates in the Abitibi-Greenstone Belt of northeastern Ontario and northwestern Quebec.
U.S. housing starts jumped in August
After falling by seven per cent in July, Madison’s Lumber Reporter reports that U.S. total housing starts for August 2021 increased by four per cent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.615 million. For August 2021, total residential starts in the U.S. jumped by 12.3 per cent from the same month one year ago, when it was 1.416 million.
CCGA announces international symposium
The Canadian Common Ground Alliance has announced details of the 2021 CCGA International Damage Prevention Symposium, to be held virtually Nov. 16 to 18. New this year will be programming on international damage prevention challenges.
