The Construction Record Podcast: Episode 143 – The Monster Squad

Daily Commercial News Image Daily Commercial News

On this spooktacular Halloween episode of the Construction Record podcast, Daily Commercial News national managing editor Vince Versace, daily editor Lindsey Cole, digital media editor Warren Frey and freelance contributor Peter Kenter get together and look at the scarier side of construction, including Peter’s terror-tinged story about haunted construction sites featuring AMI-TV show Sight Seers co-host Mark Joly.

With a little help from clips from Peter’s interview with Joly we delve into mysterious moving drill bits, a knight meeting his grisly end on what eventually became a renovation site and the dark energy permeating the Halifax Club and hampering renovations.

We also take a deep dive into the construction roles various ghouls and monsters would take on a work site, including the Invisible Man’s union problems, why Cenobite Pinhead would make a great architect and how werewolves might be the most reliable and skilled construction workers.

Vince also highlights an upcoming ConstructConnect Economic Webcast about construction challenges in 2022 as we navigate past real world scares such as the pandemic, supply chain shortages and labour constraints. The webcast on Nov. 3 a 1 p.m. ET features Associated General Contractors of America chief economist Ken Simonson, a representative from the American Institute of Architects and ConstructConnect’s own chief economist Alex Carrick.

You can listen to The Construction Record and TCR Express on the Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce websites as well as on Apple PodcastsSpotify and Amazon Music’s podcast section and you can hear last week’s episode featuring RCCAO’s Nadia Todorova and OSWCA’s Patrick McManus on utility locate delays here.
