ST. PAUL, MINN. – Big-D Construction and Real Estate Equities have expanded into Arizona with Copa Flats, a new multifamily affordable housing complex in Maricopa, Ariz.
Arizona-based Johnson Carlier, an independently managed part of the Big-D group of companies, will be the general contractor for the project.
“We are excited that Real Estate Equities is bringing the team of Big-D Midwest and Kaas Wilson Architects, which has proven to be successful, as they enter the Arizona market. Having a well-established office within the Big-D family of companies in Arizona like Johnson Carlier Construction strengthens our bandwidth as Real Estate Equities expands their footprint into that market,” Big-D Midwest director of business development Kris Lynn said in a statement.
“The accelerating employment market, allure of Arizona to relocating renters and overall product demand combined for a prime opportunity. We see this project as the first of many in the Phoenix-metro and we look to fill a void in the area’s rising housing needs,” added Real Estate Equities development partner Eric Omdahl.
A recent Arizona Department of Housing analysis showed the state is short 250,000 housing units.
The 312-unit Copa Flats complex will focus on renters making 60 per cent Area Median Income or less as set by the State of Arizona Housing Fund and amenities will include an amenity room, 24-hour fitness centre, yoga studio, children’s playroom and resort-style pool.
