GRIMSBY, ONT. — EllisDon has announced it has achieved financial close on the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Redevelopment Project in the Niagara region of Ontario.
Infrastructure Ontario and Hamilton Health Sciences have agreed on financial terms with EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare to design, build and finance (DBF) the project, stated a recent release.
The project will include the construction of a new, larger hospital on property behind the existing facility.
The contract value is $224 million.
A statement from Infrastructure Ontario indicated, “Key benefits of a DBF model include significant risk transfer to the private sector over the life of the project agreement, greater cost and schedule certainty and greater potential for design and construction efficiencies and innovation.”
EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare was announced as the preferred proponent on March 7.
The hospital provides both inpatient services and outpatient services, including emergency services, complex and palliative care, surgery and a maternal and newborn program.
“We are excited to bring this project to life for the hospital staff and residents of West Niagara, Hamilton and the surrounding region,” said Joey Comeau, executive vice-president, capital at EllisDon in a statement. “Our teams have a proven track record in delivering above and beyond health care infrastructure projects across Canada, and we are grateful to have been chosen for this project.”
