OTTAWA — Health Canada and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Stanley Black & Decker Canada have issued a joint recall for the DeWalt 12-inch sliding compound miter saws due to a laceration hazard.
According to a Government of Canada recall website, consumers are asked to immediately stop using the recalled miter saw and contact Stanley Black & Decker Canada for a replacement rear guard assembly kit or go to a DeWalt Service Centre for a free repair.
The recall involves a 12-inch sliding compound miter saw imprinted with the DeWalt logo, which are yellow with black accents and have a model number located on the saw’s nameplate. Excluded from the recall are units with green dots on the carton near the UPC code, units with a green dot on the nameplate or saws with a black dot on the arm adjacent to the rear guard.
The issue, according to the website, is the rear guard assembly can break or detach, posing a laceration hazard to the user. As of June 13, 2022, the company received on report of a laceration injury in Canada. In the U.S., the company has received reports of eight laceration injuries. The company has received a total of 571 incident reports of the rear guard assembly breaking or detaching.
