Man fatally struck by equipment at Caledon site

CALEDON, ONT. — A man has died after being hit by a heavy piece of equipment at a residential worksite in Caledon, Ont.

The incident occurred on Sept. 14 at about 12:41 p.m. Members of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unresponsive male outside a residential property on Castlederg Side Road, indicates a release issued by the OPP.

The initial investigation revealed a male worker was hit by a heavy piece of equipment. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour and the Federal Department of Labour were notified of the incident and are investigating. The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and OPP Forensic Identification Unit are assisting with the investigation as well.
