Metrolinx announces winning teams for two Ontario Line contracts

TORONTO — Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have announced the preferred proponent teams to deliver the Ontario Line South Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South) and Ontario Line Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) contracts in Toronto.

A consortium billed as the Ontario Transit Group won the Ontario Line South contract, stated a release. The team consists of Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets as the applicant lead; AECOM Canada Ltd., COWI North America Ltd., GHD Limited and SENER Group as the design team; Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and Janin Atlas Inc. as the construction team; and Agentis Capital as the financial adviser.

Connect 6ix was awarded the Ontario Line RSSOM contract. Plenary Americas, Hitachi Rail, Webuild Group (Salini Impreglio Canada Holding Inc.) and Transdev Canada Inc. form the applicant lead; Hitachi Rail and IBI Group Professional Services (Canada) Inc. are the design team; Hitachi Rail, Webuild Group (Astaldi Canada Design & Construction Inc. and Salini Impreglio Civil Works Inc.) and NGE Contracting Inc. form the construction team; Hitachi Rail and Transdev Canada Inc. make up the operations, maintenance and rehabilitation team; and National Bank Financial Inc. and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation are the financial advisers.

Ontario Transit Group and Connect 6ix ranked first after the evaluation of the projects’ respective requests for proposals received in June 2022. Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx will continue negotiations to finalize contract details with the teams and expect to award both contracts later this year.

Procurements for Ontario Line North civil major works as well as enabling works for bridge, track and other preparatory activities will follow.
