Lowe’s dealers donate to local charities

BOUCHERVILLE, QUE. — Home improvement retailer Lowe’s Canada has announced that $1.44 million will be distributed to 242 charities and other recipients across the county as the result if its Heroes fundraising campaign.

It is the fifth year for the campaign. A total of 313 teams from participating locations were involved. Each local team chose their own cause to support.

This year, six distribution centres and 81 RONA affiliated dealer stores joined the Lowe’s, RONA and Reno-Depot corporate stores in the effort. Associates developed their own fundraising ideas and Lowe’s Canada matched 50 per cent of all donations, up to $2,000 per location.

Ontario retailers raised the most money, $644,600, followed by Quebec, $542,900.

“Helping build stronger communities is a top priority at Lowe’s Canada, and this campaign reflects that engagement. With 242 organizations supported, we hope to make a difference in the lives of many,” stated Melanie Lussier, Lowe’s director of sustainable development, in a statement.
