MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. – A $106.4 million expansion of Highway 7 between 266 and 287 streets is set to begin later this month, according to a press release from the province.
M2K Construction Limited of Coquitlam was awarded a $55.5 million contract for this particular stretch of the highway. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2024.
Highway 7 will be widened into four-lanes from two to ease traffic congestion, states the release.
Three intersections will receive upgrades and highway shoulders will be widened to two metres in both directions to increase pedestrian safety.
B.C. is contributing $77.2 million to the project and the federal government is providing as much as $29.2 million.
