Telus has announced it will build a new $750 million office and residential complex named Telus Garden in downtown Vancouver. The 22-storey office complex will be LEED Platinum and the 44-storey residential tower will be LEED Gold.

Amongst the environmental features of the project will be 10,000 square feet of green roofs providing organic produce for local restaurants, two elevated roof forests, LED lighting, and will “use 30 per cent less energy thanks to responsible, leading edge design,” according to Telus president Darren Entwhistle.

The residential tower will contain 500 residential units and half a million square feet of new office space. Telus estimates the project will create three million person-hours of employment during construction, scheduled to begin this fall and be complete in 2015.
