Alberta earmarks $30 million for Red Deer Regional Airport expansion

Alberta earmarks $30 million for Red Deer Regional Airport expansion

RED DEER, ALTA. — The Government of Alberta is investing $30 million to expand Red Deer Regional Airport as part of the 2023 budget.

The funds will help develop a shipping and receiving hub in central Alberta, states a news release.

“As the MLA for Red Deer-North and as a resident of Red Deer, I know this expansion will be a welcomed addition for the community,” said Adriana LaGrange, minister of education, in the release.

“This expansion will be an asset to the transportation corridor as it will attract new passenger and cargo services, improve tourism and create jobs. I am happy to see further investment that will support our booming community.”

The new investment builds on a $7.5 million grant from the province in 2022 for the airport to upgrade and repair its runway.
